Greek Salad (Horiatiki)

A traditional Greek village salad featuring fresh tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, creamy feta cheese, and tangy olives dressed simply with olive oil, vinegar, and oregano.

Ingredients

  • *3 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • *1 medium red onion, sliced into rings
  • *1 cucumber, peeled and sliced into thick half-moons
  • *1 green pepper, sliced
  • *16 black olives
  • *200 grams (7 ounces) block feta cheese
  • *1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • *1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • *1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • *Sea salt to taste

Instructions

    Wash and thoroughly drain all vegetables.

    Cut tomatoes into wedges.

    Slice red onion into thin rings.

    Cut cucumber into thick slices.

    Place tomatoes, onion, cucumber, and green pepper in a large bowl.

    Add black olives to the bowl.

    Season with sea salt (use sparingly as the feta cheese and olives are already salty).

    Pour extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar over the salad.
